◆Robert Doisneau "Mini Portfolio"◆

This collection contains six black-and-white works by Robert Doisneau, one of France's leading photographers. This special portfolio was created for the Robert Doisneau exhibition held at Bunkamura The Museum in Tokyo in 2021. This is a set of six works that condense the spirit of Paris, collecting scenes related to various music and dance, such as chanson and jazz on the streets of Paris.

About the artist
Robert Doisneau Robert Doisneau (1912-1994)

Known as a national photographer in France.

In 1949, he signed a photographer contract with Vogue France magazine, and while taking fashion photos, he walked around the streets of Paris and took photos. He also took portraits of many artists, including Picasso and Jean Cocteau. He is particularly famous for his works that capture the daily lives of Parisians.

What is collotype?

In offset printing, a common printing method, colors and shades are expressed by the density of small halftone dots, but in collotype, colors are expressed in continuous tones, so they can be expressed in fine details that are closer to the real thing, like a photograph.
